Nick Poorman is an avid sailor, entrepreneur, and computer scientist from Syracuse, New York. Although his degree of study is in computer science, he is specialized in the field of cyber security. He has been featured in the Oswego News article "Cyber Security" in Feburary 2010 and the Lake E-ffect article "Prof and Students Take on Computer Intruders in Classified Project" by the Oswego Alumni Association in April 2010. His entrepreneurial work has also landed him in many articles such as the The Palladium Times newspaper as well as the Campus Update article "Fast Startup, Oswego team develops business, app in 54 hours" in November 2011. Early in 2012, Nick along with his co-founders were featured in many newspapers around Troy, NY for winning first place at the Tech Valley Startup Weekend with their venture PayWithMe. Nick recently co-founded a revolutionary new company called Regattable out of Syracuse, NY that's designing and manufacturing ultra portable sailboats. Nick has held officer positions in organizations such as Vice President of Production of Rockin' Recipes in 2006, and later President of ‘Cuse Cuisine in 2007. He is also involved with the Computer Science Association holding positions as Social Chairman and Treasurer. Nick is also part owner and co-founder in many startups reaching from Syracuse to Albany, New York. In his spare time he enjoys sailing out of the beautiful Henderson Harbor on Lake Ontario where he has spent many of his summers. He has sailed in regattas such as the Jr. Olympics, LYRA, the Hospice Charity Cup, and Oswego Yacht Club's Wednesday night summer series.
